About
In his recent project and book, The Sapper, Bharat Sikka narrates rather skillfully the relationship between a father and adult son. The book is multilayered just like the relationship, providing possibilities of observation, recollection and close comparison, and collaboration.
The book design began as the artist was nearing two years of shooting for The Sapper. As a multitude of twists and turns had taken shape into a dense narrative going back and forth from reality and fiction, giving Kartik a lot of material to work with. Perhaps the most challenging yet gratifying experience was to be able to allow the process of building the book to allow for a conversation to happen between the artist and the viewer.
